UEFA announced on Friday that it has imposed fines on a number of European clubs, including Barcelona and Chelsea, for violating financial sustainability rules.
The union explained in a statement on its official website that its Club Financial Control Body decided to impose a fine of €15 million on Barcelona and €20 million on Chelsea for their failure to comply with the requirements of the approved financial regulations.
The statement indicated that if clubs fail to comply with the specified financial standards and targets in the coming seasons, they may be forced to pay additional sums amounting to tens of millions of euros.
