Sana'a - Saba:
Social responsibility, as an integral part of modern institutional management, plays a key role in economic development and strengthening community cohesion, especially under the current circumstances in Yemen and the repercussions of aggression and blockade.

The Yemeni Customs Authority is one of the state institutions that has recognized its responsibility to actively participate in supporting society through initiatives that serve local development and benefit various segments of the community.

The Customs Authority’s efforts have not been limited to revenue collection and societal protection alone—given that customs represent the first line of defense and an investment in technical development—but it has also been a pioneer in implementing initiatives that reflect an early awareness of the importance of community contributions in building modern economies that enhance the spirit of social solidarity.

In a report issued by the Authority, it emphasized that the initiatives carried out are not acts of favor or charity but stem from a national duty and a spirit of unity amid the challenges of the current stage. The Authority considers protecting and supporting society a moral responsibility shared by official institutions alongside their assigned duties, whether defensive, service-oriented, or economic.

According to the report, the Authority’s initiatives have extended to multiple sectors, covering various societal groups, including people with disabilities, orphans, and frontline defenders, as well as health and educational institutions, developmental projects, and environmental initiatives.

The report confirmed that the Authority aimed, through these initiatives, to strengthen social cohesion and alleviate the living burdens of those affected by aggression and blockade.

Official statistics indicate that the Authority implemented around 24 community initiatives across various governorates during 2024-2025, focusing on the following areas:

Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment

Within its community activities and initiatives, the Customs Authority prioritized humanitarian aid and empowerment, providing seven financial and in-kind grants to people with disabilities to help them establish beneficial and self-sustaining projects. Additionally, it launched an initiative to supply medical equipment and supplies to centers catering to their needs.

Supporting Education, Scientific Research, and the Environment

The Authority executed two educational support initiatives, providing laboratory equipment and computers to several schools, recognizing that education is the foundation of development and societal progress.

It also supported a research initiative aimed at promoting agricultural development and environmental protection—"Organic Fertilizer"—demonstrating its awareness and commitment to participating in sustainable development that integrates environmental and social dimensions.

Furthermore, specialized organizations, with the Authority’s support and funding, conducted training courses for homemakers on preparing organic fertilizer at the household level.

Support Convoys and Humanitarian Inspection

In 2024, the Customs Authority launched eight Eid convoys to the frontlines during Eid al-Fitr and conducted five visits to orphanages, centers for the blind, hospitals, and customs checkpoints during Eid al-Adha, distributing symbolic gifts to boost morale and promote solidarity and compassion within society.

The Customs Authority’s report also highlighted activities supporting the families of its employees who fell in the line of duty, offering direct financial assistance in recognition of their sacrifices and national stance.

The report noted that these initiatives reflect the comprehensive scope of the Authority’s duties, which now encompass a dual role combining economic protection and moral commitment within an integrated vision aimed at enhancing national resilience, development, and progress.

Social responsibility remains a shared duty among individuals, institutions, and relevant stakeholders, requiring role integration and concerted efforts to overcome challenges and achieve sustainable development goals for the advancement and well-being of society.
