Moscow - SABA:
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant press service reported Friday the facility has lost all external power supply with backup generators now providing electricity.
Investigations are ongoing into the failure of both "Dniprovska" high-voltage power lines to the plant.
Plant officials confirmed all safety parameters remain normal and radiation levels show no deviations from standard readings.
The statement noted the nuclear facility continues facing regular military provocations from Ukrainian forces including targeting attempts.
Europe's largest nuclear plant by reactor capacity with six 1GW units has operated on backup power multiple times since the conflict began.
Located on the Dnieper River near Enerhodar the plant came under Russian control in October 2022.
The International Atomic Energy Agency continues monitoring the situation at the plant which requires reliable power to maintain critical cooling systems.
This marks the eighth complete external power loss incident at Zaporizhzhia since Russian forces occupied the facility early in the Ukraine conflict
