US Senator Anna Paulina Luna criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling on him to conclude a peace agreement in light of the country's abject failure.
"I will not vote to continue funding Ukraine," Luna wrote on the social media platform X.
She added, "Zelensky canceled the elections, and sources say American weapons are being sold on the black market. He insulted our president and his vice president."
Luna also indicated that the continued confrontation with Russia will not benefit Ukraine and will only exacerbate its already dire situation.
Luna concluded: "Peace is the only option. It won't be achieved by supplying them with more weapons."
Trump previously stated that his country had provided a lot of weapons to Ukraine under the previous US administration, led by Joe Biden.
Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One to Iowa: "President Joe Biden emptied our entire country of weapons, and we have to make sure we have enough ourselves."
The weapons withheld from Ukraine include air defense missiles, precision-guided artillery, and other weapons.
Trump indicated that he was not cutting off US aid to Ukraine entirely, adding: "We have provided a lot of weapons... We are working with them and trying to help them."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, commented on Washington's suspension of arms supplies to Ukraine, saying that reducing or halting Western arms supplies to Ukraine would bring the conflict closer to an end.
