Maxim Boyatkevich, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), accused the West of deliberately distorting and demonizing Russia in order to prepare European public opinion for a potential military conflict with Moscow.
In an interview with Sputnik on Saturday, Boyatkevich said, "In the West, there are educated and highly intelligent people who are fully aware of what is happening, but they deliberately ignore the media manipulation from the Ukrainian side and Western propaganda."
Boyatkevich added, "They know the truth, but their mission is to complete the process of demonizing Russia, in order to prepare European public opinion for the possibility of a military conflict with our country."
The Russian diplomat continued, "They want children in Europe to view Russians not as human beings, but as 'orcs'—brutal creatures who kill and rape," referring to the stereotype promoted by some Western media outlets.
