Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Dhamar governor Mohammed al-Bukhaiti on Tuesday inaugurated the spring potato seed harvest at the General Company for Potato Seed Production's fields.
During the event, Minister al-Rubai expressed pride in Yemen's self-sufficiency in potato seeds, stating the country aims to export its high-quality surplus in the future. He noted these steps align with the directives of the revolution's leader and the government's program to enhance food security and counter the economic war.
Governor al-Bukhaiti emphasized the importance of increasing efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in various food crops and supporting the agricultural sector.
Executive Director of the General Company for Potato Seed Production Engineer Hamdan al-Akwa explained that the company has made significant progress in achieving self-sufficiency, now producing earlier generations of local seeds, whereas Yemen previously relied on importing later generations. He credited this progress to research, scientific efforts, and the leadership's support.
