Dublin – Saba:
Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin stated in press remarks on Tuesday that the Cabinet will discuss a bill prohibiting the import of goods from illegal Zionist settlements built on occupied Palestinian land.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), Martin emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and an end to the massacre that "Israel" has been committing against Palestinians in Gaza for nearly 20 months.
He added, "The indiscriminate bombing of innocent civilians, the killing of families, and the destruction of entire houses exceed any moral measure. The entire world must pressure 'Israel' to end this war immediately."
In turn, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defense, Simon Harris, said he would seek government approval today for a bill banning trade with Zionist settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Harris continued, "While this is a small step in many ways, it is essential that all countries do everything in their power to maximize the pressure and conditions necessary to secure a ceasefire, as the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe is almost unimaginable. This situation is utterly horrifying and completely contrary to conscience."
