During his meeting today with a group of intellectuals and writers, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ali Al-Yafei, discussed several topics and issues concerning the cultural and literary scene.
The meeting, attended by Mohammed Al-Abid, Secretary-General of the Cultural Front to Confront Aggression and Its Effects, Abdulaziz Abu Talib, Head of the Center for Strategic Studies, and several members of the Yemeni Writers and Authors Union and the Cultural Front, addressed the arrangements being made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to hold a memorial event for the late poet and renowned literary figure Abdulkarim Salem Al-Hanaki, in a manner befitting his cultural and literary stature.
- Dr. Al-Yafei emphasized the enlightening and awareness-raising role of intellectuals, writers, and creatives, highlighting their active efforts in elevating Yemeni and regional cultural and literary work and representing Yemen with distinction.
- He pointed to the role of intellectuals and writers in confronting aggression, standing with their homeland through their writings, poetry, artwork, and various creative works, as well as their stance on the Palestinian cause, driven by their faith-based identity and adherence to national principles.
- The minister praised the late Al-Hanaki’s virtues, describing him as a poet, academic, writer, critic, and researcher who enriched Yemen’s cultural and literary landscape and stood firmly by his country.
- He noted the late poet’s contributions, filled with passion and dedication to Yemen’s unity, independence, and sacred causes, as well as his resistance to aggression and mercenaries.
- Al-Yafei affirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Yemeni intellectuals and creatives in various cultural and literary fields, providing them with all available resources.
The attendees praised the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in advancing cultural and literary work and supporting creatives in various fields.
They expressed their appreciation for the ministry’s initiative to honor the late poet Karim Al-Hanaki by organizing a memorial event that reflects the status and role of Yemeni intellectuals, writers, and creatives in general, and Al-Hanaki in particular.
