The Ministry of Culture and Tourism mourned the poet, researcher, and critic Abdul Karim Salem Al-Hanki (Karim Al-Hanki), who passed away at the age of 65 after a life full of contributions to the literary, cultural, and academic arenas.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Ministry praised the qualities and virtues of the deceased Al-Hanki as a poet, academic, writer, critic, and great intellectual. He contributed to the Yemeni cultural scene and stood with his principles and his homeland when many others failed to do so. The statement considered his passing a loss to the cultural and educational sectors and the literary scene in the country.
The statement noted the deceased's creative poetic contributions, which were filled with enthusiasm and zeal for the homeland, its unity, the nation's sanctities, and his opposition to aggression and its mercenaries.
It indicated that the deceased was one of the most prominent poets who shouldered the responsibility of jihad, defending the homeland, its unity, sovereignty, and gains, and confronting aggression. It also noted his cultural, literary, and academic roles as a faculty member at the University of Aden. The statement highlighted the late Al-Hanaki's pioneering role in writing poetry in its various forms, his defense of himself and his homeland, and his active participation in every stage of liberation from subjugation and in confronting the US-Saudi aggression from its earliest moments. It emphasized that the deceased had a prominent contribution and a clear and supportive voice in the battle for the promised conquest and the holy jihad, and that the Palestinian cause was present in his life and experience.
The statement expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the deceased's children, family, and colleagues, asking Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy and forgiveness upon him and to grant him a place in His spacious gardens.
