Sana’a – Saba:

The Parliament’s Committee on Development, Oil, and Mineral Resources held a session Monday, chaired by MP Mohammed Suwar, with the participation of the government delegation led by Minister of Oil and Minerals Dr. Abdullah al-Amir, Deputy Chairman of the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority, Bakil Rassam, and Acting Deputy Executive Director of the Yemen Petroleum Company, Ali al-Dhawrani.

The meeting brought together heads of the Services, Health and Environment Committees, and rapporteurs from the Complaints and Petitions, and Finance Committees, as well as several Members of Parliament and specialists from the Oil and Gas Corporations and the Geological Authority. It focused on reviewing the progress of the Oil and Minerals Ministry in implementing its part of the Reform and Development Government Program.

Participants discussed the implementation of Parliament’s earlier recommendations, approved during the endorsement of the reform program, along with relevant reports issued by parliamentary committees.

Government representatives provided detailed responses regarding current implementation levels, ongoing projects, and short-term future plans. They also highlighted the challenges hampering progress—chief among them being the continued targeting of oil and gas facilities by the Zionist enemy, which has severely disrupted the ministry’s ability to meet its objectives.

Finance Committee Reviews Policy Implementation and Prepares Queries

In a related development, the Parliament’s Finance Committee, chaired by MP Ahmed al-Nuwaira, convened to follow up on the implementation of parliamentary recommendations concerning financial and economic policies. The discussion covered efforts to enhance public revenue, control government spending, improve the investment climate, and strengthen oversight of public finances. The committee also reiterated the need to halt all unlawful fees.

The committee approved its working mechanism for the coming period and prepared a series of inquiries regarding the implementation of these recommendations. These will be formally submitted to the government, which will be invited to a future session for direct discussion and clarification.

Labor Committee Discusses Public Sector Insurance Rights

Meanwhile, the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, headed by MP Azzam Salah, met to address issues related to the insurance status and legal rights of public sector employees. This is especially pressing under the current circumstances stemming from the ongoing U.S.-Israeli aggression.

The committee urged the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Reform to carefully review and verify employee data when processing employment and insurance settlements to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Trade and Industry Committee Evaluates Ministry’s Reform Progress

Also on Monday, the Trade and Industry Committee, chaired by MP Qassem al-Hadha, reviewed the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment’s progress in implementing Parliament’s recommendations related to the Reform and Development Government Program. The meeting also assessed the conditions of entities affiliated with the ministry.
