The Security and Police Sector at Yemen’s Ministry of Interior officially launched police operations today in Shuoub District police stations in the capital Sana’a. The move comes as part of the ministry’s reform plan aimed at enhancing security performance and improving public services.
The launch took place during a field visit by Assistant Deputy Minister of Interior for Security and Police Affairs, Major General Ali Hussein Dubeish; Director General of Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakeel Al-Barashi; Director of Ports and Airports Security, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Mahakari; and Assistant Director of Capital Security, Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Houri. They visited the “26 September, Al-Wehda, Al-Sayyah, and Habrah” police stations.
During the visit, Major General Dubeish met with the stations’ directors, officers, and personnel, urging them to intensify efforts to improve service quality and public trust. He emphasized that the goal of the restructuring is to modernize operations using qualified personnel capable of achieving a tangible shift in performance, describing police stations as the public face of the Interior Ministry.
He reiterated that the ministry will not tolerate violations that infringe on citizens’ rights or damage the image of law enforcement.
Traffic Police Director General Al-Barashi highlighted the importance of role rotation in enhancing institutional performance and expressed confidence in the newly appointed teams’ ability to fulfill their duties effectively.
Brigadier General Al-Houri confirmed the Capital Security Department’s support for police station staff in resolving previous issues through stronger monitoring and corrective measures.
Brigadier General Al-Mahakari stressed adherence to laws governing police work and urged professionalism, discipline, and ethical conduct.
Shuoub District Police Chief, Colonel Qaf Al-Hattar, called on station leaders and staff to respond swiftly to citizen reports and improve processing times. He also stressed the importance of coordination and information-sharing among stations, affirming that district leadership will provide full support to ensure mission success.
