The Taiz branch of the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities launched on Wednesday the distribution of 125 wheelchairs (large and small) and 45 diverse assistive devices, including medical beds, mattresses, walkers, and white canes for the visually impaired.
This initiative targets individuals with motor, dual, and visual disabilities in the province, marking the beginning of its activities for the new year 1447 AH.
The launch was attended by the Deputy Governor of Taiz, Hamed Abdo, and the Mobilization Officer in the governorate, Mohammed Al-Khalidi. The Social Responsibility Officer in Taiz, Hames Al-Habari, emphasized the importance of these projects, which aim to support individuals with motor, hearing, and intellectual disabilities, helping them overcome their challenges and enhancing their role in society.
He stressed that persons with disabilities are an essential component of the social fabric, calling on everyone to take responsibility in supporting this segment of society and meeting their needs.
For his part, Mohammed Othman, Director of the Taiz branch of the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, stated that this launch is part of the third phase implemented by the branch, targeting persons with disabilities with various mobility and assistive devices. These devices aim to alleviate their suffering, preserve their dignity, and enable their active participation in building society.
He called for allocating 15% of sustainable projects to benefit persons with disabilities to facilitate their integration into society. He also noted that the number of children registered in the governorate with cerebral atrophy between 2015 and 2022 reached 878, all of whom require continuous monthly treatment.
A speech was also delivered on behalf of persons with disabilities, commending the efforts of all contributors in supporting and meeting the needs of this segment of society.
