Traffic police issue new safety directives to curb violations, accidents

Sana'a – Saba:

The General Directorate of Traffic Police issued new directives on Wednesday to enhance road safety and public security, urging compliance from all vehicle service shops across the capital and governorates.

The circular prohibits the installation of reflective (tinted) windows, electronic screens, and noisy exhausts on taxis and private vehicles, citing safety concerns and inappropriate behavior in public transport.

It also bans vehicle modifications that alter the model or color without official authorization, as these hinder accident investigations and crime tracking.

Traffic Police Chief Major General Dr. Bakil al-Barashi stated that the instructions follow findings from the 1446 AH Traffic Accident Report, which linked such violations to rising road accidents.

The police summoned 30 violators from vehicle decoration shops in Sana’a, taking legal action and securing written pledges to prevent recurrence.

Authorities urged citizens to remove violations voluntarily and warned of strict legal measures for non-compliance.
