The local branch of the General Land Authority and the Customs and Control Office in Dhamar organized a commemorative event today marking the tragedy of Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
During the event, Deputy Governor Mohammed Abdulrazzaq stated that commemorating Imam Hussein's martyrdom serves as both an educational and jihadist milestone, teaching lessons in courage, sacrifice, steadfastness, and standing firm in defense of God's religion.
He drew parallels between the events of Karbala in the past and the current struggles facing the Muslim world, particularly the killings, displacement, and forced migration endured by the people of Gaza—all occurring in full view of the global community.
Deputy Abdulrazzaq emphasized the importance of deriving lessons from Ashura by following Imam Hussein’s path: defending the causes of the Ummah, upholding faith-based values and principles, and supporting the oppressed against tyrannical forces.
