An expanded meeting at Sana’a University, chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Scholar Mohammed Muftah, discussed mechanisms to follow up on the implementation of procedures related to the rehabilitation, maintenance, and improvement of university dormitories for male and female students.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration and Rural Development Mohammed Al-Madani, Ministers of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi, Youth and Sports Dr. Mohammed Al-Mawlid, Social Affairs and Labor Samir Bajaila, Oil and Minerals Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir, Communications and Information Technology Mohammed Al-Mahdi, Capital Mayor Dr. Hamoud Abbad, and University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhit, addressed the conditions of the dormitories and the need for renovation and maintenance.

During the meeting, the Minister of Social Affairs committed to providing furniture, while the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Local Administration and Rural Development, and the Capital Mayor pledged to contribute to funding the student dormitory renovation project based on the study and bill of quantities submitted by the university’s engineers.

The First Deputy Prime Minister affirmed the government’s support for the university’s efforts to provide suitable services for students, stressing that attention to service facilities, including dormitories, is an integral part of supporting the educational process.

For his part, the Minister of Education emphasized that improving university housing has become an urgent necessity to enable students to continue their education in stable conditions.

Meanwhile, the university president stated that the ongoing preparations for the renovation, rehabilitation, and improvement of the dormitories reflect everyone’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment. He noted that the renovation of female dormitories would be postponed until after the academic year ends due to the start of classes, while a package of maintenance and improvement work for female housing would begin immediately.

He pointed out that urgent measures include comprehensive maintenance of the gas network, installation of new tanks, electrical network repairs, installation of a solar power system, and equipping an activity hall and computer lab in the female dormitories.
