A meeting chaired by Dr. Hamoud Obad, Mayor of the Capital, was held today to review the report submitted by the joint committee of relevant authorities and local leaders of Bani Al-Harith District regarding necessary measures to preserve the health and environmental situation in the district.
The meeting, attended by Shura Council Member Adel Al-Hanbasi, Chairmen of the Social Affairs and Planning Committees Hamoud Al-Naqeeb and Sharaf Al-Hadi, Head of the Emergency Operations Room Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf Al-Din, and the Undersecretary of Sana'a Governorate, Yahya Juman, and Engineer Mohammed Mada’s, Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, reviewed proposals included in the report. These focused on short-, medium-, and long-term solutions to enhance the performance of the sewage treatment plant and improve overall health and environmental standards in Bani Al-Harith.
The meeting assigned the Head of the Emergency Room and the Director of Bani Al-Harith District to evaluate and implement the committee’s recommendations and take steps to support the operation of water wells in the Rahbah area.
Additionally, the Capital Secretariat’s Agriculture Sector official was tasked with urgently conducting a study to dig three rainwater harvesting ponds (kuroof) in Rahbah and adjacent areas, based on locations designated by the community committee.
Dr. Obad also urged the Emergency Room team to take strict actions against the use of untreated sewage water for any purpose and to intensify public awareness campaigns across the community.
The meeting was also attended by Bani Al-Harith District Director Hamad bin Rakan, Agriculture Sector official Mohammed Hajr, along with several local leaders, tribal sheikhs, and notables from Bani Al-Harith.
