Los Angeles - (Saba):
At least seven people were killed and one person remains missing after a recreational boat capsized following a sudden storm in Lake Tahoe, California.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Tuesday that the 27-foot boat, carrying 10 people, capsized near the shores of D. L. Place State Park during a minor storm that unexpectedly battered the deep lake.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that two of the boat's passengers survived the incident, but seven others were killed.
The statement added that the identities of the victims will not be released until next of kin are notified.
Lake Tahoe is the sixth-largest body of freshwater in the United States by volume after the five Great Lakes in the Midwest, and the second-deepest lake after Crater Lake in Oregon.
