Washington - Saba:
US President Donald Trump said he has not yet reviewed the bill proposed by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal regarding sanctions against Russia.
In response to a reporter's question about whether he supports the Graham-Blumenthal bill, Trump said, "I don't know. I'll have to see it. We'll look at it."
The US President indicated that he needs to review the bill before taking any position, saying, "I don't know yet if I'll support it. I'll have to see it first."
The bill was initiated by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who is on Russia's list of terrorists and extremists, and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut.
During a previous visit to Kyiv, Graham stated that he expected the bill to begin discussion in the Senate next week, expressing his belief that it would "find similar support in the House of Representatives," he claimed.
In early April, Graham, known for his anti-Russian rhetoric, introduced a bill to the US Congress regarding sanctions. This bill imposes 500% tariffs on goods imported into the United States from countries that purchase oil, petroleum products, natural gas, and uranium from Russia. This came during intense negotiations between Russia and the United States to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Russia has repeatedly affirmed its ability to withstand the pressure of sanctions, which the West began to impose several years ago and which are constantly increasing.
Moscow indicated that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions imposed against Russia. In Western countries themselves, opinions have repeatedly pointed to the ineffectiveness of sanctions against Russia.
