Cairo – Saba:
Egyptian club Pyramids FC were crowned champions of the CAF Champions League after defeating South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns 2–1 in the second leg of the final, held on Sunday at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo.
Fiston Mayele opened the scoring for Pyramids in the 23rd minute, followed by a brilliant header from Ahmed Sami in the 56th minute to make it 2–0.
In the 75th minute, Iqraam Rayners pulled one back for the South African side after capitalizing on a rebound from the Pyramids defense.
The first leg, held last week in Pretoria, ended in a 1–1 draw, giving Pyramids a 3–2 aggregate win and securing their first-ever continental title.
With this historic victory, Pyramids become the fourth Egyptian club to win the prestigious CAF Champions League, joining the ranks of Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Ismaily.
