Sana'a - Saba:

The Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies launched today a procedures guide for its services.

At the launch, Deputy Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Nasher Al-Qaoud emphasized that the launch of the procedures guide at the Authority embodies the Government of Change and Reconstruction's program for development and policy review, and the Ministry of Health's vision for administrative development and service automation.

He considered the launch a qualitative step that contributes to raising the level of performance, enhancing the principles of transparency and trust, and guaranteeing the rights and duties of service providers and beneficiaries, away from improvisation and randomness. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts from all parties to implement the guide in practice.

Dr. Al-Qaoud praised the efforts of the Authority's leadership and its administrative development team in preparing the guide, noting the role of the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Development in supporting and supporting the guide's preparation team.

He pointed out the Ministry's commitment to implementing these guides, which will be a qualitative addition to the services provided by the Drug Authority. He explained that the launch of the guide was preceded by the issuance of the Drug Law, which will regulate the registration, import, manufacture, distribution, and circulation of drugs, ensuring their safety, quality, effectiveness, and security. This law also addresses the rational use of drugs and regulates their prescription, dispensing, and sale.

At the launch, attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Jameel Al-Duais, and the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Health and Environment, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Development for the Monitoring and Evaluation Sector, Abdullah Haider, praised the efforts of the leadership of the Supreme Authority for Drugs and its administrative development team in preparing and launching the guide for services provided to citizens.

He explained that the guide is a practical and tangible project implemented by purely national efforts, aiming to eliminate administrative slack in state institutions and break the lengthy and complex red tape of transaction procedures, leading to the provision of quality services to citizens with ease and convenience.

He stated that the guide is the 55th in a list of guides launched in public service units, and that forty other guides are under review. He pointed out that the Supreme Authority for Medicines' guide was developed in accordance with the national methodology and the global standard for procedures issued by the International Labor Organization.

For his part, the Chairman of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, Dr. Ali Abbas, indicated that the launch of the guide is in line with the national vision for building a modern Yemeni state and a translation of the directives of the Government of Change and Reconstruction and the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Environment to develop the Authority's organizational structure to achieve digital transformation and automate all services.

He emphasized the Authority's commitment to simplifying procedures and expediting the delivery of the services it provides, without compromising the global quality standards it adheres to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the medicines and medical supplies being circulated. He explained that the total number of services provided by the Authority according to the new methodology has reached 231.

Dr. Abbas indicated that according to the previous procedures for each service, the average number of procedures reached 30. However, after simplifying them, the number has decreased to eight, reducing 74 percent of the procedures.

He also emphasized the Authority's commitment to improving its institutional capacity in line with international quality standards, working to continuously develop human capital, strengthening the Authority's oversight role, and encouraging support for the national pharmaceutical industry.

He commended the efforts of the working team and the leadership of the Ministries of Health and Environment and Civil Service in producing this guide.

The launch was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Health and Environment, the Supreme Authority for Medicines, and drug dealers and manufacturers.
