The Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stéphane Dujarric, confirmed that the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is at its worst since the beginning of the genocidal war waged by the Israeli entity on October 7, 2023.
The UN spokesman explained in a press conference last night, saying, "Our colleagues in the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that the catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is at its worst since the beginning of the war," noting that "the war and the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip continue."
He addressed the Israeli entity's evacuation of Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza and the continued forced displacement from the Strip, with the number of displaced people reaching approximately 200,000 in the past two weeks.
Dujarric explained that the United Nations and its partners continue to provide humanitarian support to civilians in need in Gaza despite the severe Israeli restrictions on the entry of aid, adding that the need for humanitarian aid has reached unprecedented levels with the 80-day ban on the entry of aid.
He pointed out that the limited amounts of aid entering the Strip are not sufficient to support 2.1 million people are in dire need.
