Geneva – SABA:
Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), warned on Sunday that without a ceasefire and immediate aid access, Gaza will face catastrophe.
In a press statement, McCain stressed that her teams must be allowed entry by Israeli authorities to deliver life-saving assistance and prevent famine in Gaza.
She added: "Our reports confirm local accounts that 31 people died near the US-Israeli aid distribution center."
Since the closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing on March 2, no humanitarian aid, fuel, or medical supplies have entered Gaza, raising fears of an imminent humanitarian disaster.
