The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that its air defense systems shot down 162 Ukrainian drones overnight, end route to civilian targets, over several Russian provinces.
Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: "From 20:10 Moscow time on June 1 to 02:00 on June 2, operational air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 162 Ukrainian drones."
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that "57 drones were shot down over the territory of Kursk Region, 31 over Belgorod Region, 27 over Lipetsk Region, 16 over Voronezh Region, and 11 over Bryansk Region."
The statement added: "In addition to 11 drones over Ryazan Oblast, six were shot down over Oryol Oblast, two drones over Crimea, and one drone over Tambov Oblast."
Ukrainian Armed Forces target Russian border areas in Crimea and the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh Oblasts with drones and missiles on an almost daily basis.
Russian forces, in turn, continue their special military operation aimed at demilitarizing Ukraine, eliminating threats to Russia's security through Ukraine, and protecting civilians in the Donbas region.
