Sana’a – SABA:

The Capital Sanaa’s Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets Authority has intensified its preparations to receive sacrificial animals during Eid Al-Adha and provide optimal services to citizens.

A total of 12 main and branch slaughterhouses have been readied, including the central Dar Salm slaughterhouse and Nuqm model slaughterhouse, supported by facilities in various districts. All are equipped with qualified staff, veterinary inspection teams, and sanitation tools to ensure compliance with health standards.

A three-part daily operational plan will be implemented during Eid, focusing on inspections, animal health checks at city entry points, and monitoring slaughter practices. Efforts aim to prevent unauthorized street slaughtering, especially of young or female livestock, and ensure environmental cleanliness.

The authority has also launched community awareness campaigns through brochures and posters on sacrificial animal conditions and hygienic meat handling.

Significant investments have been made, including:

  • Renovation of Dar Salm central slaughter hall (over 61 million riyals),
  • Procurement of new equipment (82 million riyals),
  • Ongoing feed plant rehabilitation (128 million riyals).

In Q1 2025 alone, over 15,988 meat outlets were inspected, with 376 violations recorded, 52 referred to prosecution, and 38 livestock and 255 poultry confiscated.

Officials urged citizens to use official slaughterhouses to maintain hygiene and prevent disease, warning that violations will be strictly addressed.
