Doha – Saba:
Hamas has warned of the seriousness of the catastrophic situation facing prisoners in Israeli prisons, especially in light of the escalating policy of medical neglect, systematic crimes that include harsh torture methods, and the deprivation of detainees of their basic humanitarian needs.
In a statement on Tuesday, the movement stressed that the brutal practices against prisoners are an extension of the occupation's ongoing crimes against all that is Palestinian, as part of the war of extermination it is waging against our people and our land.
It pointed to the ongoing torture and abuse of our brave prisoners inside Israeli prisons, and the horrific testimonies documenting the extent of their suffering, the latest of which is the harsh and humiliating detention conditions faced by prisoners in Ofer Prison.
The statement said, "These flagrant violations of international law require all human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent and serious action to pressure the enemy to stop these crimes and hold its fascist government accountable, which legitimizes killing and torture inside prisons." It called on "our people in the West Bank and the occupied territories to intensify their support for our brave prisoners and escalate all forms of resistance and confrontation to make the occupation pay the price for its crimes."
