London – Saba:
English football club Manchester City is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for French attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki of Olympique Lyonnais during the ongoing 2025 summer transfer window.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City has reached a full agreement on personal terms with 21-year-old Cherki. An official offer to Olympique Lyonnais is expected to be submitted imminently to expedite the transfer.
This move comes after City reportedly secured an agreement with AC Milan for midfielder Tijani Reijnders. Cherki is being targeted to bolster Manchester City's playmaker position, especially as the club looks to replace the departing Kevin De Bruyne.
Romano also indicated that Wolverhampton Wanderers star Rayan Ait Nouri is an option to strengthen the left-back position within Manchester City's transfer plans.
Recent reports suggest that Manchester City is advancing in their pursuit of the Algerian international, with initial talks held with Wolves and the player reportedly giving his "green light" for the move. A deal for Ait Nouri could be agreed in the region of £35-45 million.
Rayan Cherki, known for his technical ability and versatility, has been a long-term target for City and is keen on the move. He has just one year remaining on his contract with Lyon.
Lyon is reportedly seeking around £34 million for the playmaker, despite earlier suggestions of a lower release clause. Cherki had previously been considered an alternative to Florian Wirtz, but City reportedly dropped their interest in the German due to high financial demands.
