Gaza – Saba:
More than 1,000 academics, lecturers, and administrative staff from universities and higher education institutions in "Israel" launched an urgent appeal on Monday, demanding an immediate halt to the war on Gaza.
In a statement issued on Monday, the signatories said, "Since Israel violated the ceasefire on March 18, nearly 3,000 people have been killed in Gaza, most of them unarmed civilians. Over 53,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war, which is nearing its 600th day, including 15,000 Palestinian children and approximately 41 Israeli detainees."
The statement, as reported by Quds Press, added that as academics, they "acknowledge their responsibility for the crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli government, turning Gaza into an uninhabitable zone, as the Israeli government continues to bomb hospitals, schools, and other institutions, completely destroying higher education, displacing populations, and forcing them to flee."
The signatories called on higher education institutions in "Israel" to "raise their voices, address their students and the general public, and no longer hesitate to confront reality as it is, calling things by their true names, as these are actions that cannot be carried out in our names and by our hands."
