Al-Bayda Governor Abdullah Idris inspected on Monday the progress of the second phase of the drinking water supply project, which involves the implementation of primary and secondary water networks in Al-Bayda city.
The project, executed by the Social Fund for Development at a cost of $1.341 million, is funded by the Dutch government.
Governor Idris was briefed by the director of Al-Bayda’s drinking water project, Engineer Mohammed Al-Habsy, on the ongoing work in the second phase. This phase includes extending 89 kilometers of primary and secondary pipelines to connect 3,200 household water lines in Districts 4 and 5. The project covers all neighborhoods near Al-Bayda University, the courthouse, the Central Bank district, and Al-Makhfaj area along the city’s ring road. The completion rate has so far reached 33%.
During the visit, Governor Idris stressed the importance of adhering to engineering specifications and the designated timeline for the project’s completion. He highlighted the project’s significance in providing drinking water and meeting citizens' needs.
He also emphasized the need to raise community awareness about water conservation and rational usage. Additionally, he praised the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council for their commitment to implementing service and development projects, as well as supporting community initiatives to improve services and alleviate citizens' hardships amid the current challenges imposed by aggression and blockade.
Governor Idris commended the Social Fund for Development for its pivotal role in executing numerous priority projects across various regions.
