The local authority in Taiz province launched on Monday the field and technical work for the Urban Planning and Settlements Project.
The project, which falls within the local authority’s efforts to enhance community partnership and create an investment-friendly environment, aims to complete 37 detailed urban plans.
During the inauguration, Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim emphasized the importance of the project, which comes in implementation of the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership. He praised the level of planning work in the province and stressed the need to generalize Taiz’s experience in urban planning to benefit other provinces. He noted that Taiz is a pioneer in all fields, especially urban planning, which is the foundation of development.
Minister Qahim commended the role of the local authority in Taiz and its executive offices for their efforts in achieving this success.
For his part, Taiz Governor (Acting) Ahmed Al-Masawi expressed gratitude to the Minister of Transport and Public Works, the Chairman of the General Land Authority, the Supervisory Committee for Settlements, and the engineers.
He highlighted the importance of launching the field and technical work for the Registration and Settlements Committee, as urban planning is a matter that impacts both the present and the future. Al-Masawi affirmed the commitment to turning challenges into opportunities to advance the province, emphasizing cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Public Works and the General Land Authority to achieve safe urban expansion.
The project integrates informal areas through innovative solutions that preserve citizens’ rights, accommodate population growth, and support essential services. Al-Masawi explained that the project, which includes 37 detailed plans, lays the foundation for a model urban city.
In his remarks, Chairman of the General Land Authority Ibrahim Al-Mansour stressed the importance of this launch for organized urban planning, affirming that Taiz will serve as a model for adhering to urban plans that consider all economic and service aspects.
The inauguration was attended by the Secretary-General of the Local Council in the governorate, Mohammed Al-Hajj, Deputy Governors Taha Al-Buraihi and Abdulwase’a Al-Shamsi, Mobilization Official Mohammed Al-Khalidi, and Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region Brigadier Mohammed Al-Khalidi.
Appeals Court Chief and Head of the Settlements Committee, Judge Fawaz Al-Maqtari, addressed the tasks related to settlement procedures in planning, affirming that the project serves citizens and contributes to the state’s development goals.
Meanwhile, Director of Planning at the Land Authority Branch in Taiz, Engineer Mohammed Al-Asali, reviewed the targeted sites and field technical tasks related to urban planning, emphasizing their role in urban development.
He noted that the areas targeted for planning include: Sha’ab Al-Khadim, Al-Maqashira, Wadi Ali (Uzlat Al-Asrar), Habail Aswad, Al-Qarama, Al-Dhikra, Maqtaq Ma’awiya (Uzlat Al-A’mur), Yakhtul, Al-Nusayriyah, Qarana, Al-Hadath, Habail Daf’an, Al-Khalu (Uzlat Shabaniyah Al-Ulya), Al-Daqduq, Al-Sakin, and Al-Khalu.
