The second scientific conference was held in Sana'a on Monday to discuss the graduation research of the second batch of male and female doctors from the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Sana'a University.
The conference discussed 10 scientific research papers by 96 male and female students from the departments of Anesthesia, Physiotherapy, Clinical Nutrition, and Radiology at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, under the supervision of several doctors and academics from the college. The papers covered various fields and health problems, focusing on health issues of societal importance.
In the opening ceremony, the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Khaled al-Khamisi, highlighted the importance of discussing the graduation research papers of the second batch of male and female doctors from the college, which embodies the spirit of competition among the students.
He considered the discussion of the research a qualitative leap in the field of scientific research, adding to the university and college's research output, its citation rate, and its impact on raising the college's profile in international rankings.
Dr. al-Khamisi emphasized the College of Applied Medical Sciences' continued academic contribution despite the difficult circumstances facing the country. He noted the 10 qualitative research papers being discussed at the conference, distinguished by their diversity and close connection to the needs of the health sector, making them an important contributor to professional practice based on scientific evidence.
At the opening of the conference, which was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Mohammed al-Shahari, and heads of departments from the colleges of medicine, Dr. Mohammed Ashish, Deputy Head of the University Student Forum at the Medical and Applied Colleges, noted that the student research presented represents stories of great effort and challenge, accomplished amidst difficult realities, with student determination that reflects a spirit of responsibility and resolve.
He praised the pivotal role of the Deanship of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in sponsoring academic programs and supporting the efforts of students and researchers.
In her speech on behalf of the conference preparatory committee, delivered by Dr. Yasmine al-Kebsi, she expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed and participated in equipping students with scientific knowledge and medical skills, including doctors and academics, to enable them to reach this stage of entry into the labor market and serve their community and nation. She noted the efforts and cooperation of everyone involved in organizing and holding the conference. The conference was attended by a number of academics, students, and University Student Forum officials.
