MOSCOW August 01. 2024 (Saba) - The representative of Russia to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said on Thursday that the assassination of the head of Hamas' political bureau, Ismail Haniyah, aimed to prevent a ceasefire in Gaza.
According to Russia Today, Ulyanov commented on a post by the Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky, who wrote that "the death of Haniyah is a blow to negotiations between the movement and Israel on the release of hostages and prisoners."
This terrorist "attack may be aimed at undermining any chance of a ceasefire in Gaza," Ulyanov added.
The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Haniyah's assassination and again urged all parties concerned to exercise restraint and refrain from steps that could lead to a significant deterioration in the security situation in the region and provoke a large-scale armed confrontation.
