The head of the Mauritanian Insaf Party, Sid Ahmed Ould Mohamed, received the representative of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Mauritania, Mohamed Abu Saqr, at the party's headquarters in Nouakchott on Monday evening. This meeting is part of the ongoing communication between Mauritanian political forces and the Palestinian resistance.
During the meeting, developments related to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank were discussed. The meeting also emphasized Mauritania's unwavering position, both as a people and a government, in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate resistance against the occupation, according to Shehab News Agency.
For his part, Hamas representative Abu Saqr praised the official and popular Mauritanian position, expressed through popular rallies, political statements, and diplomatic support at international forums. He emphasized that "the Palestinian people view with gratitude Mauritania's noble stances, which go beyond political support to embrace the spirit of brotherhood and a shared destiny."
Abu Saqr briefed the leadership of the Insaf Party on the latest developments on the ground in Gaza and the challenges facing the Palestinian resistance, especially in light of the strict blockade and the systematic targeting of civilians and infrastructure.
For his part, party leader Sid Ahmed Ould Mohamed stressed that the Palestinian cause remains the central issue of the Arab and Islamic nation.
Ould Mohamed affirmed that his party will continue to coordinate with organizations supporting Palestine in Mauritania and abroad. This meeting comes in the context of broad political and diplomatic efforts in Mauritania in support of the Palestinian cause, amid ongoing popular and official condemnations and demands for an immediate end to the aggression and the lifting of the blockade on Gaza.
