Gaza - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed an alarming 150% increase in the percentage of children suffering from severe malnutrition compared to last February.
UNRWA said in press statements on Tuesday that children in the Gaza Strip are starving, noting that more than 5,000 children have been admitted for treatment for severe malnutrition.
It warned that this number represents an increase of nearly 50% compared to last April, and a 150% increase compared to February.
It stressed the need for immediate humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip and the lifting of the Israeli blockade.
Earlier this morning, three-year-old Hassan Barbakh died as a result of being denied medical treatment and the inability of the health system in the Strip to provide him with the necessary care.
The program The World Food Programme warned in early June that more than 70,000 children in the Gaza Strip face severe levels of malnutrition.
