Second largest Belgian university cuts its academic relationship with Zionist entity
[Fri, 31 May 2024 20:17:10 +0300]

BRUSSELS May 31. 2024 (Saba) -The Board of Trustees of Ghent University, the second largest Belgian university, decided today, Friday, to sever all academic relations with the Zionist entity.

This decision comes after the university announced on May 18 that it would end its academic cooperation with three Zionist research centers.

University students had repeatedly demanded during many protests the necessity of ending relations with the Zionist entity and withdrawing investments from it.

On April 18, students who rejected the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip began a sit-in on the campus of Columbia University in New York, demanding that its administration stop its academic cooperation with Zionist universities and withdraw its investments from companies that support the occupation of Palestinian territories.

The demonstrations spread to dozens of universities in the United States, including leading universities such as Harvard, George Washington, New York, Yale, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and North Carolina, after the American police intervened and arrested dozens of students.

Universities in countries such as France, Britain, Germany, Canada and India witnessed demonstrations in support of their counterparts in American universities and demands to stop the aggression against Gaza and to boycott companies that supply the Zionist entity with weapons.
