Sana’a – Saba:

Scientific and recreational trips for summer school students are considered two fundamental pillars in shaping and developing their personalities, enhancing their skills and abilities, and fostering their interaction with their environment.

The subcommittees for summer courses and activities are committed to cultivating a generation that is aware, eager to learn, and devoted to serving its community and nation. They do this by designing educational programs rich in activities across various fields, including organizing trips to places that offer students both knowledge and entertainment.

The destinations of these trips include public libraries to encourage reading, self-learning, and exposure to various fields of science, along with providing students with books that help develop their abilities.

The itinerary also features visits to museums and exhibitions where students can gain insight into history, culture, and the arts. A highlight among these is the National Museum in the capital Sana’a, which houses a vast collection of artifacts including statues, sculptures, ancient coins, artworks, and historical, religious, and literary manuscripts that reflect Yemen’s rich history and culture.

In this same vein, educational trips are organized to technical institutes, vocational centers, and factories to support hands-on learning, introduce students to various industries and production processes, and develop their technical skills and future job prospects.

Environmental trips are also a key component, aimed at enhancing students’ awareness of the local environment and its preservation. These trips include visits to nature reserves to learn about local flora and fauna, the challenges facing the ecosystem, and participation in agricultural activities that promote sustainability.

Program organizers make sure to include visits to historical sites and ancient cities. These allow students to connect with their country’s historical events and admire the architectural legacy of their ancestors. Additionally, they explore traditional crafts and handmade industries.

Trips also include excursions to public parks and water resorts, where students engage in various sports like swimming, volleyball, tennis, and running, while learning new physical and recreational skills.

Education experts affirm that these trips have numerous benefits for mental health. They offer students the chance to explore new, lively environments and gain enriching experiences. They also foster curiosity and learning, boost self-confidence, and help develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, mutual respect, and positive social interaction.

Trips further provide opportunities for experiential learning, helping students better understand and retain information, adapt to new experiences, and overcome fears.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Mawallad, Deputy Head of the Supreme Committee for Summer Activities and Courses and Minister of Youth and Sports, emphasized that summer courses serve as safe educational environments that aim to instill faith-based identity and Quranic culture, promote noble values, and help students acquire useful knowledge and unique skills while discovering and developing talents.

In conclusion, trips make learning more enjoyable and memorable. They transform education into a vivid, engaging experience that stimulates imagination, fosters creative thinking, and develops diverse skills that positively impact students’ academic and personal growth.
