GAZA May 22. 2024 (Saba) -The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Wednesday welcomed the announcement by Norway, Ireland and Spain to recognize the state of Palestine.
The movement said in a statement, "We consider this important step on the road to establishing our right to our land and establishing our independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital."
She called on countries around the world to "recognize our legitimate national rights, support the struggle of our Palestinian people for liberation and independence, and end the Zionist occupation of our land."
On Wednesday, Spain, Ireland and Norway announced their official recognition of the state of Palestine, and said that this decision will enter into force on the 28th of this month.
In a joint press conference by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Storre and Foreign Minister Espin Barth Eide, details of which were included in a joint statement published by the Norwegian government on its website, it said that the decision to officially recognize the state of Palestine "will enter into force on May 28," noting that a number of similarly oriented European countries "will officially recognize the State of Palestine on the same date."
Ireland also declared its recognition of Palestine as a state. Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said in Dublin on Wednesday that the move had been taken jointly with Norway and Spain.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Wednesday that the government would recognize an independent Palestinian state.
"Next Tuesday, May 28, Spain will approve in the Council of Ministers the recognition of the Palestinian state," he told Spanish lawmakers.
