Madrid - Saba:
Spanish authorities have urged citizens to stay indoors and close windows following a series of explosions at a battery factory northeast of Madrid, followed by a large cloud of toxic smoke.
Approximately 60,000 residents of the towns of Azuqueca de Henares, Cabanillas del Campo, and Alvera received mobile phone warnings to stay indoors, close windows and doors, and turn off air conditioning.
The regional authority in Castilla-La Mancha, in central Spain, said Saturday that the alert was issued due to a fire at a battery recycling plant in Azuqueca de Henares, about 50 kilometers from Madrid.
