Gaza – Saba:
The Director of Medical Relief in the Gaza Strip, Bassam Zaqout, confirmed Tuesday that people suffering from starvation in the Strip are dying continuously due to the absence of resources needed to save them. He warned that large numbers of children, women, and the elderly are facing imminent death.
In press statements reported by the Palestinian Safa Agency, Zaqout said that the medical supplies entering Gaza are insufficient to meet even the minimum needs, adding that injured individuals arriving at hospitals are dying due to the lack of emergency care capabilities.
He highlighted the severe shortage of both medical staff and essential supplies, noting that healthcare teams are exhausted after being relentlessly targeted by the Israeli occupation and operating under extremely limited conditions.
Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing an unprecedented wave of hunger since the Israeli enemy sealed off the Strip’s border crossings in early March, imposing harsh restrictions on the entry of food, aid, fuel, and medicine.
The healthcare system in Gaza has suffered near-total collapse since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October, with a crippling siege preventing the delivery of medical equipment, fuel, and pharmaceuticals. Critical patient transfers outside Gaza have also been persistently blocked.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 70% of health facilities are out of service due to direct targeting or depletion of resources. Tens of thousands of wounded people require urgent treatment outside Gaza, most of them children, women, cancer patients, and those with chronic illnesses.
The Israeli occupation continues to enforce strict restrictions on patient travel through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, often delaying or denying permits without explanation — leading to worsening conditions and, in many cases, death.
