Ibb - Saba:
Governor of Ibb, Abdulwahed Salah, met on Tuesday with the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Yemen, Christine Cipolla , to discuss the humanitarian needs in the governorate and ways to enhance the committee’s interventions across various sectors.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Governor Rakan Al-Naqeeb, reviewed the ICRC’s activities in the governorate and aspects of partnership with the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, aiming to alleviate humanitarian suffering and improve service levels in several sectors.
During the meeting, Governor Salah called on the ICRC to support the governorate’s efforts in the project to protect Ibb city from floods and to engage with donors to fund the project, given the significant damage and losses caused by recurring floods in previous periods.
He emphasized the project’s importance in safeguarding citizens and property and reducing the recurring risks threatening the city. He also noted that Ibb urgently requires expanded humanitarian interventions, particularly in water and sanitation, healthcare facility support, and strengthening emergency response capacities to address crises and natural disasters.
For her part, Cipolla reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to continuing its activities in the governorate and enhancing partnerships with local authorities, particularly the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, to serve humanitarian and emergency needs.
