The Director-General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, Dr. Ismail Al-Thawabta, stated on Sunday that famine is escalating catastrophically in the Strip due to the ongoing total siege imposed by the Israeli enemy for over 150 days, along with the closure of crossings.
This has led to a complete collapse of essential supply chains for food, medicine, water, and fuel.
In a statement to the Saba Agency, Al-Thawabta noted that the documented death toll from "death traps"—caused by the deliberate chaos in aid distribution or airdrops in dangerous areas—has reached 1,422 martyrs who were brought to hospitals, in addition to more than 10,067 injured.
He emphasized that ending this disaster requires an immediate cessation of aggression, the permanent opening of crossings, and ensuring a safe and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid. He also called for urgent international intervention to halt the "slow genocide" inflicted on the population through starvation policies and blockade.
Al-Thawabta described the situation in Gaza as a humanitarian catastrophe by all standards, stressing that the international community must take immediate moral action to save the remaining lives in the besieged Strip under Israeli enemy control.
