Seoul – Saba:
Newcastle and Tottenham played to a 1-1 draw in a friendly match held today, Sunday, in the South Korean capital Seoul, as part of both teams' preparations for the new season.
Tottenham took the lead in the 4th minute through Brennan Johnson before Harvey Barnes equalized for Newcastle in the 38th minute.
The match featured a special tribute from Tottenham players to their South Korean teammate and captain Son Heung-min when he was substituted in the 65th minute. This friendly is likely to be Son's last appearance for the club after he announced his departure days earlier, ending a ten-year stint with Tottenham since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
Son's farewell took place at Seoul World Cup Stadium amid reports of his impending move to American club Los Angeles FC.
Tottenham will play another friendly against Bayern Munich next Thursday before beginning their Premier League campaign against Burnley on the 16th of this month.
Meanwhile, Newcastle will play two friendlies next Friday and Saturday against Spanish clubs Espanyol and Atlético Madrid respectively, before kicking off their Premier League season against Aston Villa on the 16th.
