Seoul - Saba:

Authorities in South Korea continue the search for missing persons following last week’s heavy rains and resulting landslides.

The South Korean Ministry of the Interior said in a statement that one more person had died due to heavy rains and landslides, raising the death toll to 19, while nine people remain missing.

According to the statement, 10 people were killed in the town of Sancheong in Gyeongsang Province, five in Gyeonggi Province, three in Chungcheong Province, and one in the city of Gwangju.

Authorities accelerated rescue efforts, with approximately 2,976 buildings and facilities—out of a total of 6,752 affected—undergoing emergency repairs.

More than 14,000 people sought shelter since the onset of the heavy rains, and 2,549 individuals have yet to return to their homes.
