Sanaa – SABA:
Thousands of students, faculty, and staff from Sanaa University staged a massive protest today denouncing the ongoing starvation and genocide committed by the Israeli regime against the people of Gaza. The march came in response to a global call from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) urging people of conscience around the world to mobilize against Israel’s atrocities.
Under the slogan “Steadfast with Gaza, Resisting Zionist Aggression,” the protest featured participation from University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, senior university officials, faculty deans, and students. Demonstrators condemned the US-backed Israeli campaign of collective punishment, including starvation, mass killings, and the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, neighborhoods, and vital services, all in full view of a silent international community.
Participants raised Yemeni and Palestinian flags, chanting slogans against the Arab and Islamic world’s silence and inaction. They expressed unwavering support for the leader of the revolution, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, pledging readiness to resist any escalation by the US or Israel and confront their criminal schemes targeting Yemen and the broader region.
Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Muftah praised Sanaa University’s leadership and participants for their strong stance and solidarity with the people of Gaza. He emphasized that Yemen’s universities are not only centers of knowledge but also hubs for resistance and readiness to fight for the oppressed.
Al-Muftah directly accused former US President Donald Trump and the American political and military establishment of being the primary culprits behind the genocide in Gaza, asserting that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is merely an “executioner” for plans hatched in the White House.
“Your arrogance and blood-stained legacy will drag you into the trash heap of history,” he declared in a direct message to Trump. He described the protest as a response to Hamas’ humanitarian call and urged continued action to support Gaza.
He condemned the Arab regimes that have funded Trump’s agenda, holding them complicit in Israel’s crimes. He also praised the resilience of Gaza’s population, especially their steadfastness despite starvation, bombardment, displacement, and lack of basic needs.
Al-Muftah pledged continued support for Gaza, calling on Yemenis to raise their children on revolutionary values and vowing that the people of Yemen would never abandon Gaza.
He also urged the Yemeni Armed Forces to intensify strikes against Israeli targets, as part of Yemen’s broader commitment to support Palestine militarily and morally.
A statement read by Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Ali Shaiban declared that remaining silent in the face of Gaza’s suffering is a grave moral and religious failing. The statement reaffirmed Sanaa University’s commitment to mobilize all resources in support of the Palestinian people.
It called on Muslims worldwide to remember their duty and act, as children and women in Gaza are being killed and displaced with no safe haven. The statement emphasized that Gaza’s crisis must be met with practical solidarity—not just words.
The protesters pledged to remain steadfast in their support for Gaza regardless of international politics. They called on global free people to recognize that silence in such times reflects moral decay and invites divine punishment.
The statement urged everyone to engage in mobilization efforts, donate generously, and pressure governments by organizing demonstrations, boycotting US and Israeli products, and surrounding embassies. It called on academic institutions to become strongholds of resistance, promoting anti-Zionist awareness and preparing generations to oppose occupation and injustice.
Finally, it urged all Arabs, Muslims, and people of conscience to act—through protest, education, and moral pressure—to stand in true solidarity with the people of Gaza.
