New York – Saba:
The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has called for an immediate and serious investigation into the Zionist regime’s attack on Evin Prison in Tehran.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Iravani demanded accountability for the assault.
According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Iravani stated that the attack, which was carried out on Monday, June 23, 2025, deliberately targeted a specific civilian prison, constituting a clear and blatant violation of international human rights law and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
He added that given the severity and horrific nature of this crime, the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly urges the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General to unequivocally condemn the Israeli regime’s targeting of Evin Prison as a grave breach of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
Iravani emphasized that "the perpetrators of this crime must be held accountable under international law for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity."
