Madrid - Saba:
A Spanish press report stated that the issue of the captaincy at Barcelona has become a sensitive issue that may witness radical changes in the coming period, especially with the decline in confidence in the continued presence of German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen as the primary choice.
According to sources close to the Catalan club, speaking to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," the bet on young goalkeeper Juan Garcia has become clear within Barcelona, and Wojciech Szczesny is expected to be the replacement.
This move has raised questions within the club about the feasibility of keeping the captaincy with Ter Stegen if he decides to remain with the Blaugrana, despite the knowledge that his compatriot, coach Hansi Flick, may prefer Garcia.
This issue is expected to be resolved after the team returns from the summer break, at which point Flick will have to make a final decision regarding the identity of the first captain.
Flick recognizes the importance of this role, in direct communication with the technical staff and management, especially during the pre-season period, which witnesses crucial discussions about the future of the sporting project.
