Mexico City – SABA:
The U.S. National Hurricane Center has forecasted that Tropical Depression Two, currently located in the Bay of Campeche, is expected to intensify into a tropical storm before making landfall along the Gulf of Mexico coast later this Sunday evening.
The center stated that the depression is situated about 160 kilometers northeast of the city of Veracruz and is moving northwestward across the Gulf. Tropical storm warnings have been issued for the coastal stretch from Boca de Catán to Tecolutla.
Rainfall amounts between 76 to 152 millimeters are expected, possibly reaching up to 254 millimeters in the states of Veracruz, San Luis Potosí, and Tamaulipas. These heavy rains may cause flash floods and urban flooding in affected areas.
