Ankara - Saba:
Retired Turkish Air Force Colonel Ihsan Sefa said that Israel failed to achieve its goals during the recent conflict with Iran and suffered unexpected material and human losses.
Sefa, a member of the Central Committee of the Homeland Party, confirmed in an interview with the Russian news agency Novosti that Tehran emerged from the confrontation stronger and more prominent in the region, noting that the balance of deterrence in the region has witnessed a significant shift in Iran's favor.
Seifa pointed out that "Tel Aviv sought, through its attacks, to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities, weaken the will of the Iranian people, and push the country toward regime change. However, these goals were not achieved. On the contrary, Iran increased its regional standing."
He added, "Iran remains today as it was 12 days before the conflict began, and has even gained greater respect among the countries of the region. So who is the victor?"
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared his country's victory over Israel at the end of the 12-day conflict, congratulating the Iranian people on what he described as a "victory."
The confrontation erupted after Israel launched an airstrike on Iran at dawn on June 13, targeting nuclear facilities, air bases, and prominent figures in the nuclear field.
Following the Iranian strike, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that the move would "release" Tehran's anger and pave the way for new opportunities for peace in the region.
He also announced a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, which was supposed to develop into an official truce. However, the two sides later exchanged accusations of violating it and threatened to retaliate.
