Occupied al-Quds - Saba:
The Israeli Knesset is expected to vote Wednesday to dissolve itself at the request of the Israeli opposition.
According to Israeli sources, this move comes following a dispute over a bill to conscript more ultra-Orthodox Jews into military service.
The Israeli Supreme Court ruled on June 25, 2024, that military service would be compulsory for Jews (Haredi) and that financial support for religious institutions whose students refuse to be conscripted would be suspended.
The Knesset will only be dissolved if the bill passes four separate votes: a preliminary reading today, Wednesday, followed by three additional readings.
Final approval of the bill requires a majority of 61 votes of the 120 Knesset members.
