Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that his country has one axis regarding the enrichment issue: rejecting foreign domination.
During a ceremony to renew the charter of the Iranian Foreign Ministry's employees based on the principles of Imam Khomeini, held Saturday morning, Araghchi explained: "The fundamental pillar of foreign policy is based on the ideology and principle of rejecting foreign hegemony," according to the Iranian Mehr News Agency. He noted that "the Constitution, in its first article, stipulates that the Islamic Republic is a system based on rejecting oppression, tyranny, hegemony, and subjugation. This has been and remains the foundation of our movement."
"There is much said about the nuclear issue and enrichment as a necessity for the country, but in the nuclear negotiations, there is another focus of our work, which is rejecting hegemony. This has always been our goal in the current negotiations," he added.
He said: "Saying that you should not enrich is in itself hegemony. Why should we not enrich? This is absolutely unacceptable to the Iranian people."
"If it is about nuclear weapons, the answer is yes." We reject it, and we have always been and continue to be a champion of the rejection of nuclear weapons, but they have not adhered to their commitments in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) discussions. They have no right to deprive the Iranian nation of its rights. Nuclear energy is an indisputable right of the Iranian people."
The Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed: "Our position on nuclear energy is absolutely clear, and we will continue with the same firmness and determination," the Iranian FM added.
