Hajjah - Saba:
Dr. Mohammed Al-Mansour, Deputy Minister of Health and Environment, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlani, Director of the Health Office in Hajjah, launched on Monday a campaign to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and control larvae causing malaria and dengue fever in the province.

During the launch in the Sharas district, Deputy Minister Al-Mansour explained that the six-day campaign, implemented by the National Malaria Control Program and the Health Office in the province with funding from the "Yemen" Development Foundation, aims to fill swamps and remove waste.

He clarified that the campaign targets 15 districts in Hajjah and two districts in Amran, in addition to raising awareness about malaria prevention methods in public facilities, markets, and villages.

The Deputy Minister noted that the campaign comes in implementation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the political leadership to prioritize rural areas, in line with the priorities of the government of change and development. He called on the local community to engage with the campaign to achieve its goals in improving public health.

For his part, Dr. Mithaq Al-Sadda, Director of the Malaria Control Program, stated that the campaign is being carried out through multiple control activities targeting mosquitoes transmitting malaria and dengue fever. This marks the second campaign in two months, with the first targeting 19 districts in Al-Hodeida province.

He added that the campaign, coordinated with the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development, includes community mobilization, revival of community initiatives in eradication efforts, routine activities by the program to supply health facilities , community health volunteers with medicines , testing kits—ensuring free diagnosis and treatment for citizens.

Dr. Al-Kahlani, Director of the Health Office in Hajjah, mentioned that the campaign is being implemented by 80 personnel distributed across 11 teams in various districts, including staff from the ministry, the Health Office, the Malaria Program, and local authorities.

He praised the efforts of district directors in facilitating previous campaigns and their role in overcoming challenges to ensure the success of this campaign in achieving its objectives.
